Locals formed a human chain on Thursday morning on the two banks of Chandona Barasia River in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur protesting river pollution allegedly by a factory.

More than 400 people from all walks of life joined the protest programme.

Locals alleged that the waste of an auto rice mill of ‘Bikash Agro Food’ is polluting the water of the Chandona Barasia River for long days by dumping waste into the river. The mill was set up defying the Environmental Law, they said.

However, the Owner of Bikash Agro Food Bikash Saha denied the allegation of dumping waste into the river.

He also claimed that he set up the mill by getting a license from the Department of Environment (DoE) and maintaining all procedures.
