Strategic fish farm training held at PSTU

Patuakhali Science & Technology University (PSTU) has organised a day-long training workshop for fish farmers to encourage implementing various scientific methods of fish farming.

The collaborative training workshop titled “Strategic Farm Business Management Practice for Fish Farmers” was held at PSTU’s conference hall on Monday morning, said a press release.

The Project Investigator and Professor of agricultural finance and banking department of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensing, Dr Akhtaruzzaman Khan presided over the event.

Professor Sajedul Haque gave training on the benefits of integrated fish farming, farming methods, fish farming alongside paddy, fish farming alongside vegetables, aquarium fish farming alongside poultry and cattle etc.

Faculty of Business Administration’s Dean Professor Zakir Hossain discussed in detail about method of proper fish farming. He also talked about financial management of different processes involved in breeding farms.

Upazila Fisheries Officer Mahfuzur Rahman provided training on cage fish farming facility problems, cage preparation netting, marketing patterns on stock size and stock density, feeding rate frequency, and fish sorting and grading.

Faculty of Agriculture’s Dean and Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Ali was present as Chief Guest and Economics and Sociology department PSTU, Professor Badiuzzaman was the special guest at the event.

Chairman, Department of Accounting and Information Systems PSTU and co-PI Professor Takibur Rahman delivered the welcoming remarks.

Professor of Management Studies Department Dr Mohammad Mujahidul Islam acted as presenter at the ceremony.

Principal of the project Investigator Professor Dr Madan Mohan Dey, Chairman of Agricultural Science Department, Texas State University, USA and Project PI was present via video conference.

Dean, Faculty of Business Administration PSTU, Prof Zakir Hossain and District Fisheries Officer Mollah Imdadullah were also present at the event.
