State Minister of Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said the lockdown restrictions after Eid-ul-Azha is going to be the “strictest” ever imposed in Bangladesh.
The minister said this after attending the closing ceremony of 96th recruit batch of Border Guard Bangladesh in Chuadanga on Saturday.
"Industries will remain closed during the lockdown after Eid. Restrictions will be tightened from July 23 to August 5. I think the covid situation will be well under control after this,” he said.
Urging all to wear masks, the minister said, “The advice of the National Technical Advisory Committee is very important in dealing with covid and we respect their useful suggestions”.
Regarding the easing of lockdown ahead of Eid, the Minister said, "Movement restrictions have been relaxed, not health guidelines.”
On July 13, the government announced easing lockdown restrictions from July 15 till July 23 considering the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, which will be celebrated on July 21.
However. a stricter lockdown will resume from 6:00am on July 23 to August 5 midnight.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Saturday recorded 8,489 new coronavirus cases and 204 new deaths.
