A madrasa student died after a lorry ran over her at the post office area of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway of Wahedpur Union1-5 at Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tanjina Akter, 14, of the Bhangarpul area of Wahedpur union. She was a class nine student at Shaheed Sufi Maulana Nur Ahmed (R) Dakhil Madrasa.
According to locals, the lorry belonging to BSRM ran her over while she was crossing the road to go to madrasa. The lorry was seized, but its driver fled the spot, said Kumira Highway Police Station in-charge Shahadat Hossain.
Tanjina died on the way to the hospital, he added.
