The students of Dhaka University have taken up position in the city’s Shahbagh intersection for the fourth day demanding cancellation of the quota system, and reinstatement of the 2018 circular. Traffic has stopped in Shahbagh and its surrounding areas.

Protesters started gathering in front of the DU central library under different banners from each hall of the university from around Saturday 3pm.

They then organised a huge procession that went through VC Chattar-TSC- Bakshi Bazar-BUET-Eden College-Home Economics-Nilkhet-TSC and stopped at Shahbagh intersection at 5pm.

The students chanted several slogans including “Blockade, Blockade, Blockade Shahbagh,” “Dofa Ek Dabi Ek,Quota Not Comeback,” “Principle of Constitution/Liberation War, Equality of Opportunity.”

These protests began recently in response to the High Court's latest decision to reinstate the quota system in government jobs.
