Thousands of students, and people from every age and profession, have gathered in the capital’s Central Shaheed Minar as part of a protest programme organised by the Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon.
The protesters – arriving from different parts of the capital individually or in processions – started gathering in the area around 12pm Saturday.
Besides, around 2.30pm, the students began heading towards the Shaheed Minar after lifting their blockade from the city’s Science Lab intersection. The blockade had started around 12:30pm Saturday.
Meanwhile, musicians held a programme titled “Get Up, Stand Up” at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi area. After 3pm, they started heading towards the Shaheed Minar with a procession.
Many of those gathered at the Shaheed Minar have various placards in their hands, and many are chanting various slogans.
