The protesting students of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Saturday gave an ultimatum to the Chief Justice and all the justices under the Appellate Division to step down by 1 pm.

Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement,  gave the ultimatum around 11 am on High Court Premises.

Issuing a warning, Hasnat Abdullah said if the judges of the Appellate Division and Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan do not resign by 1pm, they will meet the fate as that of Sheikh Hasina.

“We will force them to step down after encircling their residences and fascism will be rooted out by removing partisan judges,” he added.

Earlier, in the day, several hundred protestors, including students and lawyers, gathered on the Supreme Court premises, demanding the resignation of the chief justice and the judges of the Appellate Division.

They were chanting slogans for the resignation of the CJ and all judges of the Appellate Division.

The full court meeting of the Supreme Court, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, was postponed amid protests.
