Agitated students have blocked Russell Square intersection in capital’s Dhanmondi 27 demanding road safety and justice for Notre Dame College student Naim.

Students from several institutions of Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur and Lalmatia started to take the streets in front of Rana Plaza on Sunday at 11.00am.

Meanwhile, police members were seen standing nearby to avoid any untoward situation.

Earlier on Saturday night, a second meeting between the Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities and Bangladesh Transport Owners Association ended without any fruitful decision, as city bus owners yet again refused to accept half fares from students without government subsidy.

The meeting followed after protesters from several colleges blocked the capital’s Asad Gate and Dhanmondi 27 areas around 12:00pm on Saturday morning started demonstrating demanding road safety and justice for Nayeem.

Another group of students protested at the Uttara House Building area around 11:00am. Students later dispersed from the streets when police calmed them down.

Hasan was killed at the capital’s Gulistan area on November 24 after being struck by a garbage truck of Dhaka South City Corporation.
