Bangladesh Railway (BR) has decided to increase the fare of Subarna Express, running on the Dhaka-Chattogram route, from January 25, to adjust with the fare of Sonar Bangla Express.
The new fare of the country’s first non-stop train running on the route, for per seat in the decorative chair class, has been fixed at Tk 405, against the existing fare of Tk 380. The air-conditioned coach fare per seat has been increased from Tk 630 to Tk 700.
About the fare hike, Railway Eastern Chief Commercial Officer (CCM) Mohammad Nazmul Islam said that the fare of Sonar Bangla Express on the same route was higher than that of Subarna Express, though both the trains offer the same facilities. So, the fare has been adjusted.
On the Dhaka-Chattogram route, the Subarna Express train departs Chattogram Railway Station at 7:00am and arrives in Dhaka at 12:20pm. On the other hand, the train departs Dhaka at 4:30pm and arrives in Chattogram at 9:50pm.
