Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan will inspect the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar railway line before the inauguration of train services.
The minister left for Cox's Bazar by motor trolley from Dohazari station on Monday around 10am.
Earlier, he visited the Kalurghat railway bridge repair work.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the Chattagram-Cox’s Bazar railway on November 12.
According to railway sources, the minister's visit is mainly to inquire about the opening of train services on the Cox's Bazar route.
The minister will direct the officials to move forward with the inauguration program and will oversee the work of the railway line up to Cox's Bazar.
Railway Eastern General Manager Jahangir Hossain said that the laying of the new railway line to Cox's Bazar has been completed, and trains are ready for movement.
The 100 km railway line project is being implemented at a cost of more than Tk 18,000 crore.
On 3 April, 2011, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone for the meter gauge railway construction up to Dohazari-Ramu-Cox's Bazar.
