Sylhet Osmani International Airport was declared temporarily closed as the flood situation worsened in the district on Friday.
“Considering the overall flood situation, the authority has taken the decision to close off the airport as flood waters have almost reached the runway,” Airport Director Hafiz Ahmed told The Business Post while confirming the matter on Friday.

Since Thursday night more areas in Sylhet have been flooded where water has been on the rise in the flood-hit areas.

Meanwhile, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has been closed till June 25 as the flood situation has worsened.
