TCB sale of essentials begins Thursday

The government will launch the sale of essentials today in the capital and other parts of the country, ahead of the upcoming holy Ramadan.

The state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will distribute commodities at a subsidised rate among lower-income families across the country, read a press release. The food items will be sold among 10 million low-income families in two phases.

Under this facility, people will be able to buy sugar at Tk 60 per kg, lentils at Tk 70 per kg, soybean oil at Tk 110 per kg, chickpea at Tk 50 per kg and dates at Tk 100 per kg. However, dates will be sold only in Dhaka, read the TCB release.

People will be able to buy groceries at dealer shops and other designated permanent infrastructures by showing their family cards.
