Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today inaugurated Technical and Vocational Education Week-2023 at the International Mother Language Institute here.
“The government is trying to make technical education affordable and attractive to students to make them suitable for the job market. At least one technical education institute is being established in every upazila of the country,” she said.
The government is moving forward with effective plans and programs for the expansion of technical education, she said, adding that as a result, the number of women students has increased significantly.
Highlighting the need for technical and vocational education for the common people of the country and its role in the overall socio-economic development, Dipu said “The government is working to strengthen effective coordination among the government, private and foreign organizations working closely on this sector.”
Earlier, a colorful rally led by the Education Minister was brought out on the occasion of Technical and Vocational Education Week-2023. The rally starting at the Dhaka Women's Polytechnic Institute ended at the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
As part of the week-long programme, a seminar titled "Importance and Actions of Technical Education in Building Smart Bangladesh" will be held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), Dhaka on Thursday.
Different programmes will be organised this week, like parents’ conferences, technical fairs, signing of memorandum of understanding between industries and institutions, seminars about various topics.
Executive Chairman of National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) Nasreen Afroz and Director General of Directorate of Technical Education Md Mohsin were present with Senior Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department M Kamal in the chair.
