‘Terrorist’ killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’ with RAB

A suspected terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early Tuesday at Tongi T&T Bazar area in Gazipur.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain Pinku, son of Abu Jafar, of Gosairchar village in Chandpur.

Md Kamruzzaman, assistant police super, Rab-1, said they were tipped-off that a group of drugs and arms traders were staying in the bazar area. A patrol team raided the area at around 1:30 am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the terrorists fired and in retaliation RAB was forced to fire back in self-defense.

RAB later recovered bullet-injured Pinku and took him to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah General Hospital where doctor declared him dead, added Kamruzzaman.

There were 14 murder, drugs, and arms cases against Pinku, said Kamruzzaman.
