A Dhaka court today started examining prosecution witnesses against Partha Gopal Banik, suspended deputy inspector general (prisons) of Sylhet Division, in a case filed over amassing illegal wealth worth 80 lakh taka.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md Salahuddin, also the plaintiff of the case, testified before Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-10 on Tuesday.
The court later fixed January 18 and 19 for the next hearings on this case.
Earlier on November 4, a Dhaka court framed charges against Partha Gopal Banik in the case.
After framing charges, the court fixed November 18 for recording deposition of witnesses in the case.
Earlier on October 29, a Dhaka court deferred till November 4 the hearing on charge framing against Partha Gopal Banik in connection with the case filed after the recovery of 80 lakh taka from his residence in Dhaka.
On July 28 during a drive at Partha Gopal Banik’s house, the ACC seized 80 lakh taka and arrested him on charges of irregularities and corruption.
