Advocate Tapash Mazumder, the publisher of The Business Post and the Dainik Amader Shomoy, peacefully passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at his residence. He was 55 years old.

Srila Mazumder, his daughter, confirmed the news of Tapash Mazumder's demise, revealing that he had been grappling with preexisting health challenges.

“His health took a downturn around midnight. Despite efforts, his condition continued to worsen after 2:00am and he was rushed to the hospital and doctors there declared him dead,” she said.

The family believes that Tapash breathed his last at home.

Notable figures from the media landscape expressed their profound grief over this loss. Mohd Noor Ali, the Managing Director of Unique Group and New Vision Ltd, Ali Hossain Chowdhury, Director of New Vision Ltd, Abul Momen, Editor of Dainik Amader Shomoy, and Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain, Acting Editor of The Business Post, conveyed their deep sorrow and condolences.

In memory of Tapash Mazumder, The Business Post and Dainik Amader Shomoy jointly held a memorial and prayer gathering at their office in the capital on Tuesday. During the event, colleagues, journalists, and editors from both publications shared their heartfelt condolences and reminiscences.

Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain, Acting Editor of The Business Post, spoke passionately about the immense void left by Tapash Mazumder's departure. "His presence cannot be replaced within these dailies or our hearts. While many losses may not be irreplaceable, I must assert that this loss is truly insurmountable," he said

Khondaker Showkat iterated that the dedication, integrity, and commitment displayed by Tapash Mazumder for both newspaper families were unparalleled.

He urged for collective efforts to address shortcomings and enhance various aspects, particularly news quality – a matter close to Tapash's heart. He believed that by working towards improvement, the most fitting tribute to his legacy could be offered.

He also assured that the Unique Group, the PHP Family, The Business Post, and the Dainik Amader Shomoy communities would stand by Tapash Mazumder's family as guardians during this difficult time.

Ibrahim Hossain Ovi, Planning Editor of The Business Post, expressed his condolences and said, "Tapash guided us with mentoring on news quality and concepts, and offering unwavering support even in challenging times." Ovi added that Tapash was always ready to tackle problems, inspire quality enhancement, and ensure the sustainability of the business daily.

After obtaining a postgraduate degree in law, Tapash held significant roles within various organisations under the Unique Group. Beyond his professional achievements, he played a pivotal role in shaping society through his involvement in diverse social institutions.
