Without any plans to extend the holidays, the government has announced three days of holiday during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, obliging all government officials and employees to be at their respective workplaces during this period.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said this at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.
The cabinet secretary said Eid-ul-Azha would be celebrated on July 31 or August 1, depending on the sighting of the moon.
However, no matter on what day the Eid is celebrated, the three days -- the day before Eid, the day of Eid and the day after Eid -- will be public holidays, said the cabinet secretary.
