Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway (Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga) witnessed long tailback on Friday.
On the other hand, traffic movement became normal on the 2nd day of toll collection (Saturday) after increasing the number of toll booths.
In 24 hours till 12:00am on Saturday, 15,650 vehicles passed the highway and Tk 24,4640 toll were collected through the toll collecting booths on both ends, said In-charge of toll plaza Faruk Hossain,.
Toll collection from the country’s first expressway began at 12:00am on Friday from Bogail toll plaza in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.

“On the first day toll collection began in only four booths at first but as pressure of vehicles increased creating a long tailback, the authorities later increased the numbers of booths. We have asked the higher authorities to raise the number of booths to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and toll collection on the expressway during Eid-ul-Azha rush,” he said.
“Of the eight booths, two are being used for vehicles coming from Dhaka and four for those heading towards it. Another four booths will be soon opened,” he added.
OC of Bhanga Highway police station Md Hamiduddin said the vehicular movement remained normal on the second day and highway police have been working in toll area.
