Traffic restricted in parts of Dhaka Wednesday

The Bangladesh Awami League will hold a public rally at 2:30pm on Wednesday to mark the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Because of the programme, to be organised in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan, vehicle traffic will be restricted in the surrounding areas. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has requested the city dwellers to use alternative routes on the day until VVIP traffic concludes.

The possible diversion points are – Kantaban Crossing, Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Matsya Bhavan Crossing, Doel Square Crossing, Dhaka University Medical Center, Jagannath Hall Crossing, Sculpture Crossing, and VC Bungalow Crossing.

Attendees of the programme will be able to park their vehicles in - Mohsin Hall Ground, University of Dhaka (VIP); Malchatwar, University of Dhaka; Both sides of the road from Palashi Crossing to Bhaskarya Crossing; Fuller Road on both sides of the road; On both sides of the road from Doel Chatwar Crossing to Shahidullah Hall Crossing; and Both sides of Nawab Abdul Gani Road and both sides of Dilkusha and Motijheel area roads.
