Train services have resumed nationwide from Tuesday after a 24-day suspension. Mail, express, local, and commuter trains are starting to operational on Tuesday.
Freight train services had already commenced on Monday. Intercity trains are scheduled to resume from 15 August, with ticket sales beginning at 5 pm yesterday.
Bangladesh Railway’s Director of Public Relations, Mohammad Nahid Hasan, confirmed that freight trains have been running since 12 August. Mail, express, local, and commuter trains operational from Tuesday, while intercity trains will start running on 15 August.
However, the Parabat and Jamalpur Express services will remain suspended due to damage.
On Jul 16, during the quota reform protests, railways were blocked in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Feni, Mymensingh, Rangpur, and other areas, disrupting train services for several hours. While operations resumed somewhat normally the following day, a complete shutdown was enforced on Jul 18.
