Bangladesh Railway (BR) has started selling its tickets from counters today (Saturday) after nearly a five-month cessation amid the surge of coronavirus pandemic.
Tickets (25%) are available on the counters and rest of the 25% tickets are being sold from online platform and mobile app of Bangladesh Railway as the trains have started commuting with half of the capacity to maintain social distancing.
Amid the pandemic, BR was selling all the tickets in app and online platform which caused some disturbances to the passengers as many of them are tech shy and have no smartphones to log in to the digital platform.
In a circular issued by Deputy Director of Bangladesh Railway, Md. Nasir Hasan Khan said, up to six tickets in a particular class will be sold on the counters and the passengers have to purchase the tickets using mobile app or online if the number exceeds.
Unsold tickets will be sold 120 hours prior to the departure through counters, app and online platform, the circular also said.
Tickets will be available behind counters from 8am every day and from 6am every day in app and online platform.
