Training for Gram Police members begins in Sundarganj

A 5-day long training for the Gram Police members began at the auditorium of Sundarganj Upazila Parishad in the district on Friday aimed at building up their capacity on their responsibility and professional duty.

Upazila administration arranged the training at the directive of the district administration under the rule of Gram Police recruitment and training, upazila administration sources said.

An inaugural session was also held with UNO Tariqul Islam in the chair, reports BSS.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) and district magistrate Kazi Nahid Rasul formally inaugurated the session as the chief guest and deputy director of local government and also deputy secretary of the government Md. Shariful Islam spoke at the event as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Kazi Nahid Rasul termed the Gram Police members as the reliable source of the government at grass root level and suggested them to perform their professional duties sincerely.

She also asked them to play an active role at their respective working areas to maintain a peaceful law and order situation to build a crime free smart society that would help build Smart Bangladesh by 2041, envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Terming the members of Gram Police as a Bangladeshi specialized police unit responsible for security in rural areas and asked them to complete the training properly and utilize the knowledge acquired from the training in professional work in the days ahead.

Notably, as many as 67 members of Gram Police of the upazila are taking part in the training in the second phase.

Earlier, some 69 members of the upazila also participated in the training in the first phase.
