The expulsion order of Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) Shafiqul Islam, who fined three passengers on the Dhaka-bound Sundarbans Express for travelling without tickets, has been withdrawn.

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon said this at a press conference at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

On Friday, a TTE was suspended for fining three people claiming to be the railways minister’s relatives who were travelling without tickets. Later, the TTE was suspended over a phone call without being given a chance to even defend himself.

Earlier the railways minister claimed that he is not aware of the suspension of the railway official. He also denied that the passengers were his relatives.

TTEs often harass the passengers and do misbehave with passengers, which tarnishes the image of the railways, the minister also claimed.
