The bodies of two people including a woman were recovered from Laboni Point beach in Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

Tourist police and sea lifeguards retrieved the bodies after they were washed ashore by tidal water at Laboni Point around 11:00am.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Confirming the matter, Additional DIG of Tourist Police Cox's Bazar Region, Apple Mahmud, said the bodies of a woman and a man aged around 40 and 30 respectively were recovered from Laboni Point beach in the morning.

Later, the bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.

Imtiaz Ahmed, in-charge of the sea lifeguards, said, "Our duty team members recovered the bodies and informed the tourist police. We are not sure whether they were tourists or not.”
