The Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on Thursday arrested two individuals in separate raids with 1.392 kg of gold worth nearly Tk 54 lakh from the canopy area at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The arrestees are – Billal, 53, and Firuj Mia, 50.
“APBn’s detectives spotted them roaming suspiciously in the canopy area of the airport. They were arrested in two different incidents. ,” APBn’s Additional Superintendent of Police SM Mizanur Rahman said.
“When they were challenged, they gave irrelevant answers. Later, they were detained and brought to the APBn office at the airport and searched. Twelve gold bars were found from them, weighing 1.392 kg and worth Tk 54 lakh.”
