The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has held two individuals for their alleged involvement in selling illegally-registered SIM cards in Dhaka.
They are – Ring leader Aslam Hossain, 25, and his associates Mishkat Hossain, 20.
The duo was arrested from Dhaka’s Sayedabad Bus Terminal area on Sunday and a large number of illegal registered SIM cards were seized, said RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed.
He said, “The arrestees have been collecting and selling SIM cards illegally by fraudulently stealing information from people in different areas of the country, including the capital.
Criminal gangs use these SIM cards to carry out their illicit activities so that they can conceal their identities from the law enforcement agencies, he added.
RAB's operation against these illegal SIM card trading gangs will continue in the coming days, Mohiuddin added.
