At least two members of People’s Activists Coalition (PAC) were injured as police swung batons on their protest rally in front of National Museum on Thursday.

PAC organised the rally in front of the Bangladesh National Museum around 4:00pm protesting the attack of on a Qawali Mahfil at TSC on Wednesday.

Police used batons to try to disperse the rally soon after the organisers opened the banner of the programme, said Ratul Mohammad, one of the organisers of PAC.

Shimul Chowdhury and Sojib Tushar were injured in the police attack, Ratul added.

"Recently, the government has imposed restrictions on religious, political and social rallies and programmes to prevent the spread of new Covid-19 variant Omicron,” Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Moudud Hawlader said.

“So, when they (PAC) tried to stage the rally, we just stopped them and they went away,” he added.
