Two people were killed when a pickup hit a parked truck in Voradoba Nishinda area of Dhaka-Mymensingh road of Bhaluka upazila around 12.45am on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, son of Azim Uddin and Azizul, 50, son of Dudu Sheikh. Both of them were from Sherpur Sadar upazila.
Al Mamun, a senior station officer at Bhaluka fire station confirmed the matter.
He said, "A Dhaka-bound pickup from Sherpur hit the back of a stopped freight truck and twisted into the bottom of the truck."
The driver of the pickup was rescued immediately by cutting out of the front side of the pickup, but the two companions were dead, he added.
The injured pickup driver has been sent to hospital for treatment.
