Two people were killed and three others injured as a truck crashed into another on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, in the area adjacent to Bailor Bazar under Trishal upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Milon Miah, 25, a van puller and son of Jinna Miah, resident of Dhanikhola village of the upazila, and helper Najibur Rahman,40, son of late Momin Uddin Sikder, resident of Sang-Chandra village, Thana-Gachha (GMP) in Gazipur district.
This accident occurred when the Dhaka-bound truck collided with the other truck and fell into a rickshaw van at around 7:30am, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Trishal police station Main Uddin.
The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
Police seized the truck, while its driver managed to escape the scene, the OC added.
