Two mango traders were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Tangail highway near the Jamurki Bridge area under Mirzapur upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Ariful Islam, 23, and Artha Burman, 15, both hail from Narsingdi district.
The accident occurred in the area as the driver of a mango-laden pickup van from Rajshahi lost control over the steering and overturned while overtaking another passenger bus on the highway around 8:45 am, leaving Artha Burman dead on the spot and another seriously injured, sub-inspector (SI) of Gogai Highway Police Station in Mirzapur, Jahangir Alam said.
The injured was taken to Kumudini Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, he said.
After the autopsy, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives, SI said.
Police seized the pickup van, he added.
