The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit arrested two members of Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh.
They are -- Shakib Ahmed Chowdhury alias Zaki and a minor boy.
They were arrested from Jatrabari’s Matuail area in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
At that time two mobile phone sets were recovered from their custody, said the DMP news portal.
CTTC officials told the news portal that they had information about two militants staying in Matuail to plan an act of sabotage in Dhaka city.
Then they conducted a raid and arrested them. Inspired by violent extremist ideology, they continued to propagate through social media, Facebook and other online platforms.
The accused used to communicate online with members of various tiers, including the top leaders of the Neo-JMB, the portal said, quoting CTTC officials.
According to the CTTC, arrested Shakib is involved in free-lancing on the internet after finished study at a private university in Sylhet and another (juvenile accused) is a student at Sylhet Government Primary Pilot High School. Legal action has been taken against them.
