Two madrasa students were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Char Kankra union of Noakhali's Companiganj upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Ashkar Mashfi, 10; son of Kamruzzaman and Minhazul Islam, 8; son of Shahidul Islam. Both were students of Darul Akram Madrasa.
Also, the driver of the motorcycle, Moniruzzaman Quraishi, was injured in the accident.
According to the locals, Moniruzzaman was coming to Basurhat Bazar with his younger brother and nephew on a motorcycle. On the way, a speedy truck hit the motorcycle leaving the duo dead on the spot. The truck driver fled the scene after the incident.
Companiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Zahidul Haque Rony said the bodies of the deceased were recovered from the spot.
The injured motorcyclist was rescued and taken to the Noakhali General Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
Necessary steps will be taken in the matter, the police officer added.
