The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its interest to cooperate and assist Bangladesh in developing the country's tourism industry.

UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi informed about UAE’s interest during a meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

UAE Ambassador said, “The tourism industry in Bangladesh has bright potential. To realise this potential, we want to cooperate and support the development of the tourism industry in Bangladesh by boosting existing partnerships.

“The aviation and tourism industry will strengthen the people-to-people friendship of our two countries.”

In response, Minister Faruk Khan said, “The government is working sincerely to develop tourism in Bangladesh. The number of domestic tourists in the country has crossed two crore. We are also taking various measures to attract foreign tourists.

“There is an opportunity for the UAE to invest in developing tourism infrastructure, building hotels and resorts in Bangladesh. If the UAE invests in this sector, we will provide them with all kinds of support.”

The cooperation in the tourism industry will help strengthen the relationship between the two countries, alongside boosting the aviation sectors, the minister added.
