The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) on Wednesday observed the 7th UN Global Road Safety Week-2023.
To mark the day, UITS’s Civil Engineering Department and Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) jointly brought a rally at the university campus at 10:00am, read a press release issued on Wednesday.
UITS Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Professor Dr Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan led the rally.
“This year’s UN Global Road Safety Week theme is ‘Sustainable Mobility’ and we have to work to make awareness among the people on road safety,” said UITS VC.
“Necessary steps need to be taken for ensuring road safety and the people of all levels should cooperate in implementing those steps.”
Treasurer Prof Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Science and Engineering Faculty Dean Prof Dr Md Mazharul Haque, Proctor Dr Md Yasin Ali, Head of Civil Engineering Department Dr Md Mahabubur Rahman, CSE Department Chairman Al Imtiaz, Student Welfare Advisor Md Tarikul Islam and CIPRB Road Safety Project Manager Kazi Borhan Uddin also took part at the rally.
