UK looks forward to stronger bonds with Bangladesh

The United Kingdom has said they look forward to strengthening bonds of kinship and culture during the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence.

The laid emphasis on building on a strong foundation of trade, development, security, cultural, educational, defence and people to people links for the next 50 years and beyond.

"On 4 February 1972, UK was one of the first countries to recognise following historic London meeting between Bangabandhu and PM Edward Heath. 49 years on the relationship is strong and close. Looking forward to celebrating 50 years of independence together," British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson tweeted on Thursday.

This historic moment encouraged other Commonwealth and non-regional partners to move quickly and recognise Bangladesh, said the British High Commission.
