United Hospital fire: Police impose travel ban on 4 hospital officials

Four top officials of United Hospital have been put under a travel ban by Police following a fire incident that killed five patients at the hospital on May 28.

Police have sent a letter to the immigration department in this regard.

According to police sources, United Hospital Limited Chairman Hasan Mahmood Raja, Managing Director Faridur Rahman Khan, Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Faizur Rahman, and Chief of Clinical Development and Governance Dr Abu Sayeed MM Rahman are not allowed to leave the country.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Sudip Kumar Chakraborty confirmed the matter.

Sudip Kumar said, "A letter has been sent to the Immigration Department to ban the four from leaving the country in the interest of investigation."

“A three-member committee formed by the police to investigate the incident has already submitted a report to DMP and police headquarters. Fire service also submitted a report, and both reports were submitted to the court on June 14, he further said.
