A case was filed in connection with the death of five patients at the isolation unit of the city’s United Hospital on Wednesday night following a fire incident.
Major (retd) Moinul Hussain, Manager (admin) of United Hospital, filed a UD (unnatural death) case with Gulshan police station, said Sub Inspector Sinthia, duty officer of Gulshan police station.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt Col Zillur Rahman said a 4-member committee, formed by the Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters, has been asked to submit a report within the next 7 working days after investigating the incident.
The head of the committee is Deputy Director of Fire Service Debashish Bardhan, added Lt Col Rahman.
An investigation team of CID visited the spot this morning, in connection with this probe.
