The Union Parishad (UP) chairman of Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj has left for the United States on 13 April without notifying authorities concerned.
Shah Al Shafi Ansari's family sources said he holds American citizenship and took a flight to the US on April 17 amid the shutdown.
Ansari’s sudden absence has created a confusion in the local administration and the district administration.
Panel chairman Monirul Islam has temporarily taken charge of Ansari’s office, an official confirmed.
