The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has emphasised on ensuring biometric checking for the individuals while entering the Chattogram port and port-related establishments as part of implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code.

Sources at the port confirmed the matter to The Business Post on Wednesday when a team of US Coast Guard concluded its three-day visit to the country’s prime seaport.

The USCG arrived in Bangladesh on Monday and inspected security checks at the port along with its various installations, including fuel depot and inland container depots (ICDs).

CPA Port Secretary Md Omar Faruq said the delegation, in the meeting, expressed satisfaction about their three-day visit to the port.

However, the delegation did not give any official opinion, Faruq said, adding that they would submit a report to their authorities, and the outcome of the visit would be known later.
