Outgoing US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller on Monday said his country would further strengthen relationship with Bangladesh for the sake of economic development.

“Bangladesh has celebrated 50 years of its independence. We have a long time diplomatic relationship with Bangladesh. I hope it will strengthen further,” he said.

Miller was addressing his farewell virtual meeting organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham).

Mentioning his retirement from foreign services, the US envoy said, “I am honoured and I have enjoyed the past three years in Bangladesh… I have wonderful memories here.

“The US has appointed Peter D Haas as the new ambassador to Bangladesh. He has a strong economic information background,” Miller added.
