Directorate General of Health Services Director General Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said that the immunization program for school children aged 12 to 17 will start this week.

He made the comment after the handover ceremony of the Survivors Kit at the Health Department on Tuesday noon.

Khurshid Alam said 21 centres have been identified at the district and city corporation level across the country as per capacity. Pfizer shots are being prepared for school children at these centres.

“We have initially planned to vaccinate at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon so that we can inoculate many children at once,” he added.

He said the educational institution will provide the list of students and we will provide them with detailed security platforms.

“We will begin to vaccinate a large number of students after a trial campaign,” he further said.

Earlier on October 10, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that Bangladesh would administer the Covid-19 vaccine for children above 12 soon as it receives the green signal from World Health Organization.
