A private car caught fire at Dhaka Elevated Expressway's Kuril Bishwa Road area on Thursday afternoon [first day of Eid-ul-Fitr].

"No casualties were reported so far," Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Headquarters Control Room Duty Officer Ershad Hossain confirmed the matter to the media.

He said, "We received information about a car being caught on fire on the expressway at 5:17pm.

Two units of FSCD rushed to the spot and doused the fire at around 5:45pm.

The FSCD official could not immediately say anything about how the car caught fire.

They suspected the fire may have started due to an electrical fault because the car was a hybrid variant vehicle (A vehicle that uses two or more distinct types of power, such as submarines that use diesel when surfaced and batteries when submerged).
