A portion of Evaly's merchants and consumers have demanded the release of the controversial e-commerce platform's owners to allow them to continue the business under strong monitoring to pave the way for clearance of transactions and products.

They made the demand at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity on Sunday.

They demanded the release of Evaly's Chairman Shamima Nasrin and Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Rassel.

Earlier, on 16 September, Rapid Action Battalion has arrested e-commerce platform Evaly's Chairman and CEO from their Mohammadpur residence for embezzling customer money.

At the press conference, the coordinators said that about 7.4 million customers, more than 35,000 vendors, and 5,000 permanent and temporary employees are directly involved with Evaly.

Earlier on September 16, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, conducting a raid on their house at Mohammadpur in the capital.

They were arrested for being allegedly involved in embezzlement of several hundred crores of taka.
