Subordinate courts and tribunals across the country have virtually granted bail to 15,217 people in the last eight working days since April 12.
Supreme Court spokesperson Saifur Rahman said 15,217 persons, including 167 juveniles, received bail from hearings on 26,848 cases.
The Supreme Court also formed virtual benches for both Appellate and High Court divisions to hear urgent cases during the ongoing nationwide lockdown.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on May 10 of last year issued directives and a user manual in line with the ordinance by President Md Abdul Hamid on May 9, allowing regular court proceedings to be conducted virtually amid Covid-19 lockdowns in Bangladesh.
