Washington DC declares March 26 as 'Bangladesh Day'

Washington DC, the US capital, has declared Mar 26, 2021 as ‘Bangladesh Day’ to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.

Mayor of Washington DC Muriel Bowser on Friday made the announcement.

She congratulated the Bangladesh government and its people on the Golden Jubilee of the country’s independence which concurs with the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

A proclamation signed by Mayor Muriel Bowser reads that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is blooming and transforming into ‘Golden Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
