Water levels in 39 rivers rise, 66 fall

Water levels at 39 rivers have marked a rise, while 66 stations recorded a fall, monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

Among the 109 monitoring stations, four river stations have registered steady water levels while seven stations are above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said Wednesday.

The Surma at Kanaighat, the Kushiyara at Amalshid and Sheola, the Old Surma at Derai, the Baulai at Khaliajuri, the Someswari at Kalmakanda and the Titas at Brahmanbaria are flowing above danger level by 87cm, 114cm, 42cm, 12cm, 01cm, 22cm and 07cm respectively.

 A significant amount of rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 9:00am, the bulletin added.

A total of 196mm (millimetre) of rainfall was recorded at Sunamganj, 175mm Chattak (Sylhet), 129mm at 96mm at Panchagarh, 195mm at Lalakhal (Sylhet), 148mm at Dalia, 128 mm at Sylhet, 177mm at Jaflong (Sylhet), 137mm at Pateshwari (Kurigram) and 115mm at Kanaighat (Sylhet).
