Water Resources Ministry opens control room to track flood situation

A control room has been set up on Tuesday by the Ministry of Water Resources in order to monitor and collect information about flood across the country.

Anyone can communicate through the control number 01318 234 560, said Asif Ahmed, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry.

Flood situation worsened in the country’s in Nilphamari, Kurigram, Sirajganj, Gaibandha, Sunamganj, Sylhet and some other districts in the northern and north-eastern parts of the country.

Water levels in Teesta, Brahmaputra, Dharla, Jadukata, Surma rivers marked a significant rise and all of them are flowing above the danger level.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) launched seven community radio stations in the northern regions.

They started broadcasting programmes on flash flood situations to alert people to reduce loss.
