Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government will not accept the IMF loan if the conditions are too strict.
The minister made the statement during an exchange of views with journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
However, he did not explain the strict conditions of the IMF. When asked about it, the minister said, "From past experience, we have an idea of IMF's loan conditions. We will not accept any conditions that will hurt the interests of the country.”
Quader also said that there is an ongoing dollar crisis in the country.
“Pressure on reserves is increasing and we need money now. Discussions are going on with IMF for the loan. We will accept what is rational,” he added.
