Police found the bodies of a woman and her daughter from a house at Nayagaon in Kamrangirchar of Dhaka on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Phulbashi Chandra das, 34, and Sumi Chandra Das, 12.
The law enforcers, meanwhile, detained Mukunda Das alias Kalu, husband of Phulbashi, and their eldest daughter Jhuma Rani Das for interrogation.
A team of crime scene unit of the Criminal Investigation Department went to the spot to collect evidence.
Kamrangirchar police station Inspector Mahidul Islam said on tips from locals they went to the rented house at Nayagaon and found the bodies around 5:30am.
The bodies bore injury marks at their necks, he said.
Police suspected the duo might have been strangled to death.
