A 22-year-old woman gave birth to five children at once at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday morning.
But one baby died shortly after birth due to being underweight.
Mansura Begum, hailed from Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district, gave birth to four daughters and one son around 10:00am.
DMCH Indoor Medical Officer Sabiha Sultana said that a newborn baby girl died shortly after birth. The remaining four children were kept in the neonatal unit.
"They are also not in good condition as they were born in the 26th week of pregnancy. We are trying our best to provide all possible support,” she added.
Quintuplets usually occur naturally in 1 in 55 million births.
